One of the laziest things when traveling is packing your suitcase. There are two types of people: those who prepare it well in advance and those who leave it for the last moment. The truth is that you are one of the first or the second, we have all forgotten something at some time and we have remembered when we reached our destination.
With the aim that this does not happen again on your vacation, we want to tell you what are the essentials in your suitcase for this summer with a checklist so that you do not forget anything, wherever you go. Let’s see it!
7 essential things to put in your suitcase
The first aid kit
When we talk about first-aid kit, we mean that you remember to take those basic medicines that can be of great help in another city. It can be paracetamol, ibuprofen or whatever you take in case your head or throat hurts, in case your period comes… With that and some bandages just in case you can be more than calm.
Intimate products
Intimate products, in the first place, are panty liners, tampons and/or pads. Even if you think that your period will not come on those days, in hot weather there is a greater chance that your period will come early or late, or that you will have a greater flow. That is why it never hurts to put all these products in the suitcase… How about also putting some contraceptive?
Basic hygiene
We know that you are not going to forget your toiletry bag, but our recommendation is that you review what you usually do when you get ready to go out, so you will not forget anything about hygiene. Toothbrush, toothpaste, gel, shampoo, shaver (or whatever method you use), makeup, eyebrow tweezers, comb, hairbrush, iron, foam… And all the etceteras you want. There it will depend on each type of woman.
Account of more in the underwear
This is one of the tips that you will have been given a thousand times: never wear the right underwear. You must add 3 or 4 more panties or thongs to the number of days you go. The reason? You may need them and, as you already know, it is better not to worry about running out of underwear or having to wash it. It is one of the things that occupies less!
A look that you will not use
Your suitcase is for summer, and it’s usually hot, but it never hurts to add that look that (hopefully) you never wear. We are referring to the typical sweatshirt or windbreaker in case it is cold or in case it rains, long pants or even a closed shoe.
For trouble
The best recommendation we could give you would be to bring a mini sewing kit, one of those tiny travel ones, because if you are in a hurry you can sew on a button or have some thread. But the reality is that with a couple of safety pins there is no disaster that cannot be fixed momentarily. They won’t take up space but they can save you from many.
Purse
A recommendation that you should take into account, especially if you go abroad, is to distribute the money in several places. The main reason is simple: if they rob you, don’t let them take everything. We understand that it may make you a little bit reluctant to keep part of it in your suitcase if you are going to check in, especially if you have already had a bad experience with lost luggage.
But the truth is that, as far as possible, you should try to keep it distributed and well stored. Many suitcases, in addition to the zippers to remove the inner lining, have a small pocket on the side to carry this type of thing.
The rest depends on your vacation destination. Don’t forget the sun cream and moisturizer, day-to-day clothes, something more dressed up to go out and, if you’re used to playing sports, one or two sports looks in case you don’t want to leave your routine.
Tricks to fit everything in the suitcase
Surely reading the list of essentials for the holidays that we have just made you think that there is no suitcase that fits so much. But let us tell you that it can. Obviously the size of the suitcase will depend on the days you go and how you are going to travel (by car we can relax more than if we go by plane). However, there are certain tricks that you can apply to both large and smaller suitcases, or even backpacks. Let’s see them!
For underwear
There are three different possibilities for storing underwear without taking up hardly any space. The first is in the specific small pockets that some suitcases usually have. You can also store it in a small bag, so that it will occupy only a tiny area of the suitcase. And, finally, you can carry it distributed among the holes that your clothes leave.
Clothes
If you roll the shirts and pants into small rolls, in addition to wrinkling less, it will take up less space and it will be easier for you to organize it in your suitcase. Another very useful way to store clothes is to get small square clothes organizers to put in the suitcase in a very comfortable way.
The free alternative to this option is to store your clothes in plastic bags. Imagine, you make small piles by type: the shirts on one side, the pants on the other… You fold it and put each group in bags. You remove the air so that it occupies as little as possible. Storing them like this in the suitcase will make it easier for you to organize your clothes so they don’t get messy and also, find them quickly.
Take advantage of the gaps
As we mentioned before with underwear, there are holes that inevitably remain in the suitcase and that we can take advantage of. We are going to give you two examples: the cups of the bras can house several sets of underwear under them. The shoes, although we fit them very well with each other, always have holes in which we can store socks. If you know how to make good use of those holes, you will realize the space that you can save with them.
Watch out for the toiletry bag
We tend to think that it is much more comfortable and everything is more collected in a toiletry bag that can store our deodorant, creams, brushes… etc. However, many times it is better to carry some well-sealed and loose products (filling in the gaps) than everything in the same giant bag.
The same thing usually happens with bikinis and the beach bag. In this case we insist on carrying the beach bag full of bikinis and towels but, on certain occasions, it will not take up as much and it will be a less bulk if we carry the bikinis and the bag folded and folded in the suitcase itself.
The puzzle
The suitcase has always consisted of fitting the pieces of a puzzle together, but the trick is to do it with patience and finding the best way. For this reason, our recommendation is that you take everything out on top of the bed or a table, apply the tricks that we have told you about above and when you have everything, gradually put it in the suitcase, playing with the holes and sizes. In this way it will be much easier for you, both when you go and when you come back and need to redo it.
